INJURY MANAGEMENT
About
Having started out as a professional dancer, suffering a career changing injury and learning how to manage and rehabilitate myself, Matt decided to delve further into injury management.
In 2021 he decided to join a course teaching Sports Massage, and discovered even more that the human body is an amazing mechanism, and just like any other machine it needs regular maintenance to work at full potential and reduce the risk of injury. After gaining a qualification in Level 3 Sports Massage, he advanced straight into Level 4, which went a lot deeper into injury management and more advanced techniques.
Matt is planning to continue training up to Level 5, and move into other areas such as dry needling and taping in the future.

FAQ
Will it be painful?
There is a big misconception that sports massage needs to be painful to have a beneficial effect. On the contrary, if there is so much pain that your body can’t relax properly, the treatment will be a lot less effective.
There are many techniques that can be used to achieve a better result with less pain in many situations. However some cases do require a little pain, trigger points for example, require a constant pressure to release, and general pain signals will send a message to the brain to heal.
Why ‘Injury Management’?
The reason for describing what Matt offers as ‘Injury Management’, is simply because in some cases sports massage may not be necessary or even suitable. So it is partly to limit the expectation of receiving a complete hour of massage.
He will also be giving tailored exercises in order to help recovery or prevent further injury, so injury management describes the process in better detail.
Can you do different lengths of appointment?
As Matt is only working as a mobile therapist at the moment, this depends heavily on circumstance (distance/timing), and fees will also be subject.
Will you massage for the entire session?
There will always be some form of massage in a treatment, however in some cases, different techniques – such as resisted stretching (METs etc), can have a much more beneficial effect than a simple sports massage can.
